Borderline Comment: This is the band that started off the latest incarnation of The Borderline Club. Sweetwater was, without doubt, Shropshire's top Rock/Blues band in the 1970s and 1980s. During this period they played at most of the major venues and festivals in the UK, supporting acts such as Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Chicken Shack, Rory Gallagher, Robert Plant, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. The band reformed in 2000 and comprises three out of the four original members:
They are joined by "newcomer" Pete Tipton on drums. The band's material consists of up tempo classic rock numbers and lively R'n'B tunes - they don't go in for the slow stuff. Since reforming the band has supported Roy Wood and Nine Below Zero and have recorded a live album entitled "Old Dog, New Tricks", which has been well received by critics and audience alike.
