| Borderline Comment: Some of the regular Borderline audience saw these guys performing at the Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival in April 2003 and called me from the gig demanding that I book them immediately. So I phoned the band when they were still on stage at Nantwich to sort out the details.
The Band : Scott Ralph is a multi-instrumentalist, he's been gigging as a drummer since he was 13, played trumpet on the "Blind Date" TV theme, and is an inspiring teacher of more musical instruments than most people have fingers. Scott's guitar playing is exciting, innovative and super-skilled, and his gritty vocals are the icing on the Texas Hurricane cake. Dave Edwards, the child prodigy toured working men's clubs at the age of thirteen with his father "Colin" - a gifted drummer. At one gig the chairman was making the pre-second set announcements, just prior to Dave's "big" intro. Sitting behind the P.A. the announcement was somewhat muffled and Dave took this as a cue for his moment of stardom. He generated a million crazy-assed sounds at once, only to face a cold and slightly angry reception, and to be informed that the chairman had requested a minutes silence in honour of a deceased member! Dave took a 15 year break from the music industry before returning with as much natural musical ability as anyone could hope for. Richie Wells founded the band and started his musical journey when he was asked to come to a band practice to try his hand at lead vocals. Although he has a fine voice he ended up playing bass, which over the next 12 years, took him all over the world and into various studios, performing on that track by the Bucketheads...you know that one ...erm. He has an outstanding sense of musicality and rhythm, and a deep love for the music of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Chris Plimbley was born in 1962 and has been playing for 25 years. He's a busy, gigging jazz and blues drummer and describes himself as a "percussive prostitute"!. Bryan Adams once had the pleasure of playing with Chris in the driving seat. Going from one extreme to the other - he has also played with Edwin Starr and Screaming Lord Sutch. Plimbo has been a member of many Stoke-based bands including "House on Fire" and "Squibnocket".
